Consideration of bills

The Chamber of Deputies considers and approves bills emanating from the Government, from individual Members (Deputies and Senators present their bills in the House to which they belong), from popular petitions (signed by 50,000 or more electors), from the National Council for Economy and Labour (CNEL) and from Regional Councils.

During the legislative process, the text of each bill is considered by one of the 14 Standing Committees or by a Special Committee before its debate on the Floor of the House.

The Floor of the House debates any proposed change to the Constitution.
